Welcome to the Crawford Family Tree. This website is based on my Great Grandfather Thomas Crawford and his family in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.
Thomas Crawford was born on the 12th January 1871 at Liverpool Workhouse, Brownlow Hill.
According to the birth certificate of Thomas Crawford his mother was called Jane Crawford (born 1848) unfortuately his father's name is omitted for some reason. Although, when Thomas Crawford got married in 1896, his marriage certificate mentions his father as being John Crawford and occupation as a mariner.
Jane Crawford was admitted into the workhouse some time on the 12th January 1871 and gave birth that same day to Thomas. After a lying-in period, both were discharged on the 23rd January 1871.
After being discharged from the work house, there has been no records found so far to show where mother and son went or if Thomas's father John was around. Searches have been made in the census's but they can't be found for some unknown reason. It's only when Thomas Crawford marries that he soon reappears back on the scene.
During part of his life Thomas was a Merchant Marine and served during the First World War and when he wasn't away at sea he was a Bricklayer's Labourer. Please visit this page to find out more about Thomas Crawford's career.
On the 29th November 1896 Thomas Crawford married Sarah Thompson at the parish church of St. Peter in Liverpool. At the time of the wedding the Bride and Groom were both residing in Baptist Street. Find more information about Thomas Crawford's first marriage
Sarah Thompson was born in Liverpool on the 1st August 1873 to parents, also born in Liverpool, John Thompson (Wood Turner) and Jane Thompson (nee Jones).
During 1915 Thomas's first wife Sarah had fallen ill with Tuberculosis and sadly died. Thomas married again on the 24th October 1916 to Christina Seddon also a widow. Find more information about Thomas Crawford's second marriage
